This tradition started just after the second World War when the then Ambassador of Belgium lit a torch from the flame of the unknown soldier grave in Westminster Abbey to rekindled the flame of the unknown soldier in Brussels that had been extinguished by the occupiers.
It is, without fail, carried out every year ever since and is been carried to the Embassy and then taken to Brussels by a select committee of 'Anciens Combattants'
This is a moving ceremony and not to be missed.
